AMAZON IS COMING TO WILMINGTON: Delivery Station To Open On Fordham Road, Create Hundreds Of Jobs

WILMINGTON, MA — Amazon Logistics announced on Tuesday that it has signed leases to open eight delivery stations in Massachusetts, including at 100-110 Fordham Road in Wilmington.

“Amazon Logistics has signed various leases in an effort to open eight delivery stations in Massachusetts in 2020. We are excited to continue to invest in the state of Massachusetts with new delivery stations that will provide efficient delivery for customers, and create thousands of job opportunities for the talented workforce,” revealed Emily Hawkins, an Amazon spokesperson.

What exactly is a delivery station? Packages are transported from fulfillment centers to these stations, where they’re sorted and then loaded into vehicles for delivery to customers.

These eight stations will collectively create thousands of full time and part-time jobs, paying a minimum of $15 per hour and offering a variety of benefits packages from day one, according to a press release from Amazon.

Delivery stations also give entrepreneurs the opportunity to build their own businesses delivering Amazon packages, as well as independent contractors the flexibility to be their own boss and create their own schedule delivering for Amazon Flex.

In addition to Wilmington’s location, Amazon will be opening delivery stations at the following locations:

  • 351 Maple Street in Bellingham (began in May)
  • Alger Street in Boston
  • Industrial Park Road in Hingham
  • West Street in Mansfield
  • Commerce Boulevard in Middleborough
  • American Legion Highway in Revere
  • John Quincy Adams Road in Taunton

There are approximately 150 Amazon delivery stations across the country.

In February, the Board of Selectmen approved some of the required work to develop the site, including the removal of more than 30,000 cubic yards of material and blasting.
