VIDEO: Town Meeting Will Vote On Proposed Budget Differently This Year

WILMINGTON, MA — Wilmington Town Moderator Rob Peterson and Wilmington Finance Committee John Doherty recently announced another change that voters can expect at the 2020 Annual Town Meeting, scheduled for Saturday, June 27, 2020 at 9am at the WHS Softball Field.

The Finance Committee will be making a motion calling for the entire budget to be voted in one vote (Article 5), rather than the normal procedure of department-by-department.

The intent of this change is to reduce the time spent on procedural motions and streamline the voting process.

Peterson noted that residents will still be able to ask questions and make comments on individual lines within department budgets.

Doherty noted the proposed budget can be viewed on the town’s website in advance of the meeting.
