LETTER: School Committee Member MJ Byrnes Endorses DePalma For Selectmen

Dear Fellow Citizens,

With everything that we as a community have and are struggling with at this unprecedented time in our society, it is as important now than ever that we continue to have leaders of integrity and moral compass to lead us through these challenging times, both safely and fiscally. We also need leaders to lend independent voices, who can work collaboratively and professionally with multiple personalities, and to listen to and advocate for the greater good of their constituents. It is for all of these reasons that I will be casting my vote for Gary DePalma for Board of Selectmen.

No stranger to our Town Government, Gary has lived in Wilmington for 28 years, having served as a member of the Town’s Bylaw Committee. During his 32 years in the field of law enforcement for the Commonwealth, Gary has served as shop steward and, eventually, Treasurer, for the Coalition of Public Safety Union. It was from these leadership experiences that he had become a trusted advisor on many of the late Rep. Jim Miceli’s campaigns, as well as, served as Rep. David Robertson’s Campaign Manager in the Representative’s successful bid in the 2018 elections.

In my personal dealings with him, I’ve known him to be passionate about his community as he is for his country, with his’ thumb on the pulse’ of each. He brings a positive, honest and common sense approach to the many issues this community faces and will face as we continue to navigate through this pandemic and social unrest that affects us all. Between Gary’s background and his past experiences, I have no doubt of his ability to be a strong contributor to our Board of Selectman, and a voice for all residents.

Even though this year’s elections are unopposed across the board, I would strongly encourage my fellow neighbors to still ‘get your vote on’, and join me in casting a vote of support for Gary DePalma for Selectman.

Respectfully Yours,

M.J. Byrnes
