5 Things To Know In Wilmington On Saturday, May 23, 2020

WILMINGTON, MA — Below are 5 things to know in Wilmington on Saturday, May 23, 2020:

#1) Decorate Wilmington Veteran Graves & Monuments

The public is welcome to assist with the Wilmington Veterans’ Department with decorating Veterans’ graves at Wildwood Cemetery at 8am and decorating Monuments and Squares beginning at 10:15am. Complete Memorial Day Weekend schedule HERE.

#2) Wilmington Yard Waste Center Is Open

The Wilmington Yardwaste Center on Old Main Street is open from 9am to 4pm for the drop-off of leaves and brush. Residents will need to purchase a punch-card for $15 in order to enter the yardwaste center. Punch-cards will be available for purchase through the Collector’s Office at Town Hall and will allow up to 5 vehicle trips to the yardwaste center per card. NO GRASS CLIPPINGS OR STUMPS WILL BE ACCEPTED. Commercial vehicles will not be allowed. Make sure to bring photo identification to show you are a Wilmington resident.

#3) Hunger Games Escape Room

Surprise! The Wilmington Memorial Library is hosting a virtual escape room for teens in honor of the release of The Hunger Games prequel, The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. Are You Ready for the Hunger Games?: A Virtual Escape Room Created by Abbey Stephens and Robin Brenner, the tween and teen librarians (respectively) at the Public Library of Brookline in Brookline, MA.

#4) Decorate Your Front Door For Memorial Day

The Wilmington Department of Veterans Services would like to encourage residents to decorate their front doors with a patriotic theme to remember the men and women who died while serving in the military. (Please avoid using the term “Happy Memorial Day.”)

The Wilmington Apple will be helping keep track of where the doors are located so that residents may enjoy them.

Photos of the doors may be sent to wilmingtondoorproject2020@gmail.com and will be uploaded to the Wilmington MA Veterans Services Facebook Page.

#5) Celebrate A Wilmington High School Senior

Graduation bouqets are being purchased by members of the community to be anonymously delivered to every Wilmington High School senior! Enclosure card contains special poem to the graduating class from Principal Peters.
