VIDEO: Meet The Woman Giving Free Books To Wilmington Kids On Their Birthday During COVID-19

WILMINGTON, MA — Watch the latest episode of “Talk of the Town” with WCTV’s Lisa Kapala featuring quick stories from around town.

In this episode, Kapala remotely interviews Wilmington’s Nicole Hartford, of Usborne Books, who has been delivering free books to local children on their birthdays during the COVID-19 crisis. Hartford has delivered 95 books to Wilmington children over the past couple of months. Books are wrapped and come with a decorated card and bookmark. Books are dropped off on porches, usually on the child’s birthdays, and the parents will receive a text message when the delivery has taken place.

Hartford discusses her love of books, how books can help families during COVID-19, why she started the birthday book project, her affiliation with Usborne Books & more, how parents can sign up their children if they have May or June birthdays, and how the program has positively affected her own family.
