PLAISTOW, NH — Robert J Gray “Bob”, 75, of Plaistow, New Hampshire passed away at Portsmouth Regional Hospital on Saturday, April 18, 2020, after suffering complications from a fall at home.
Born and raised in Chester, Pennsylvania he was the son of the late Robert V. and Josephine (Harrington) Gray. He was a graduate of Drexel University in Pennsylvania and moved to Plaistow, New Hampshire 41 years ago.
He retired from General Electric in 2003 after thirty years. He worked in several plants, including Philadelphia, PA, Wilmington, MA, Lynn MA, and Hooksett, NH. After retiring, he and his wife enjoyed spending winters in Melbourne Beach, Florida where they made many friends.
He was a jack of all trades and could fix or build anything. He was willing to help anyone who needed it. He was also an avid golfer and was a member of Exeter Country Club for many years. In the last few years, he was a member of the Thursday Morning League, which he called the ‘old folks’ league. He was an excellent cook. We will never forget his Hot Pepper Jelly, Hot Nuts and Bob’s famous Muffalatta Sandwich. He also loved to try new restaurants and then recommend them to family and friends. Those close to him knew well that he did not like the tails left on cooked shrimp and would let the chef know. Bob’s family and friends enjoyed kidding and teasing with him, but they all loved him so much and will miss him dearly. They will all share his stories and will laugh and cry over their memories of him. He was one of a kind.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Sharon (Dolan) Gray of Plaistow, NH and his children Christopher Gray of Lake Worth Beach, FL, Robert Gray of Ridley Park, PA, Diane Quinn and husband Mark of Prospect Park, PA, Donnamarie Vick and husband Chris of Nashua, NH, Michael Moley and his wife Wendy of Plaistow, NH, Kelly Matthews and her husband Dave of Plaistow, NH, and Tara Bednarz and her husband Luke of Haverhill, MA. He is also survived by his sister, Roberta Stolar, Washington State.
