OBITUARY: Bernie F. “Bonnie” (Flynn) (Clarke) Shay, 102

TEWKSBURY, MA — Bernice F. “Bonnie” (Flynn) (Clarke) Shay, age 102, a resident of Tewksbury for over 20 years, passed away at Advinia Care at Wilmington on Monday, April 13, 2020.

She was the beloved wife of the late Harold E. Clarke and the late Franklin T. Shay.

Born in Carmanville, Newfoundland, Canada on October 18, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Willis W. Flynn and the late Maryann (Ellsworth) Flynn.

Bonnie was raised in Woburn and graduated from Woburn High School in 1935.

She was employed as an Executive Secretary for the Devoe & Reynolds Company and the Dyonics Company in Tewksbury and Woburn. In addition, Bonnie was the former secretary for the City of Malden Chamber of Commerce.

She resided in Malden and Stoneham until moving to Tewksbury.

Bonnie was active with the Tewksbury Golden Age Club and Senior Drop-In-Center, and was a member of the “Swinging Seniors”.

She enjoyed many activities including reading, music, jigsaw puzzles and singing.

Bonnie is the mother of the late Joseph W. Clarke and his wife Sue of Wakefield, Linda J. Haley and her late husband Fred of Tewksbury, Stephen F. Clarke and his wife Jane of Melrose, and Thomas A. Clarke of Wakefield. Mother-in-law of Janice Clarke of Stoneham. She leaves 9 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Due to current public health circumstances, all services for Bonnie are private. Interment at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.
