Wilmington Recreation Ceases All Programs & Trips Through At Least April 1, Asks Customers To Wait For “Plan B” Before Cancelling

Below is an announcement from the Wilmington Recreation Department:

Hello Recreation Customers:

These are clearly unprecedented and trying times.  I’d like to update you on our current status, and ask your patience as we move forwards.  Please know that we are working with the Director of Public Health for the Town of Wilmington, and following all state and local directives and guidelines.  Our first priority is to keep all of you safe and healthy.

At this point, we have postponed or cancelled all of our programs and trips that were to be held through April 1, and we may extend that date. You should have received an email regarding any specific programs for which you were registered, and the plan in place for that program.  As we move forwards:

PLEASE consider waiting to hear our “Plan B” before cancelling.  We are trying to avoid our vendors and instructors losing wages and business, and if we can postpone programs rather than cancelling them, they will not lose their livelihoods.  If you do decide to cancel a program that has not yet started, and that has not been changed from what you signed up for, there is a $5 cancellation fee.  If there is a program that has been in progress, and we postpone to new dates that don’t work for you, we will issue a partial refund, based on the number of weeks you attended, as we will still pay our vendors and instructors for the weeks they worked.  There will not be any cancellation fees charged.  We’ll be in touch with program registrants for each program and trip to explain these details and options.  If we have to cancel a program, or you cannot attend rescheduled dates of a program, you will receive a full refund.

WE, the Recreation Staff, are in our office in Town Hall, and are ready to serve you!  Town Hall is closed to the public, but we are at work behind those locked doors.  Feel free to call us (978-658-4270) or email us (kcampbell@wilmingtonma.gov) if you have any questions or concerns.  There’s a lot we don’t know right now, but we’re watching all the news, just like you are, and we’ll be ready to move as soon as the “all clear” is sounded.
