LYNN, MA — David D. O’Connell, age 68, of Lynn, died on Saturday March 14, 2020, surrounded by his loving family, at the Brudnick Center, Peabody, after a brief illness. He was the husband of Anne M. (Burke) O’Connell, with whom he shared 46 years of marriage. Born in Winchester and raised in Wilmington, he was the son of the late Leo Jr. and Marie (Baldwin) O’Connell. He attended Wilmington Schools and was a graduate of Wilmington High School, class of 1969. He would then earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Business from North Adams College, class of 1973. He has lived in Lynn for the past 46 years. Prior to his retirement, David had worked as an analyst for Nuance Communications. David was a member of Gannon Municipal Golf Course and of the Greek American Bowling League. He had formerly been active with the Wyoma Little League and Lynn Youth Hockey.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by 2 sons, David O’Connell and his wife Amy of Beverly, and Brian O’Connell and his wife Kristine of East Grand Rapids, Michigan, 3 grandchildren, Olivia, Brendan, and Finley O’Connell, his mother-in-law Marie E. Burke of Lynn, his siblings, Leo O’Connell and his wife Lucille, Daniel O’Connell and his wife Carol, John O’Connell and his wife Amy, Charles O’Connell, all of New Hampshire, Kathleen Galeno of Georgetown, and Marie O’Connell of Middleboro, a sister-in-law Maureen McNulty and her husband Patrick of Lynn, and many nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. He was also the brother of the late Nancy Roberts and Darlene Fleming.
Adhering to the guidelines of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and the CDC Funeral Services will be private. Friends are encouraged to leave condolences for the family at www.solimine.com. A Celebration of his life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Association 309 Waverley Oaks Road Waltham, MA 02452.
