WILMINGTON, MA — Below are 5 things to know in Wilmington on Saturday, January 11, 2020:

#1) WHS Boosters Dance Fundraiser

The Wilmington Boosters Association is holding its Annual Dance on Saturday, January 11, 2020 at 7pm at the Wilmington Knights of Columbus Hall (112 Middlesex Avenue).  This fun evening includes live music from the local band WildFire.  Attendees are encouraged to bring their own snacks.

#2) Boston Roller Derby At Shriners Auditorium

Boston Roller Derby, a Boston-based, female-only roller derby league, returns to the Shriners Auditorium (99 Fordham Road) on Saturday, January 11, 2020 for the start of the league’s 15th season.

Doors open at 4pm. Tickets can be purchased in advance online or from your local BRD skater for a discounted price of $12, or at the door for $16. Admission covers entry for both games and the after party. Food and drinks available at the venue (cash only). Advance ticket sales will end at midnight the night before the game. VIP seats are trackside; General Admission seats are in the bleachers.

7pm — The Nutcrackers vs The Harbor Horrors
9pm — After party in the Fez Room!

#3) State Rep. Ken Gordon Holding Office Hours

Representative Ken Gordon (D-Bedford) will host the latest of his public office hours on Saturday, January 11, 2020, from noon to 1pm, at As Good As It Gets Cafe (35 Lowell Street) in Wilmington.

Representative Gordon will be available to answer questions and listen to concerns and ideas from constituents of the district. He can also be reached at his State House office number, 617-722-2575, and at Kenneth.Gordon@mahouse.gov.

#4) Wilmington Youth Center Open

The Wilmington Youth Center, located inside Villanova Hall (126 Middlesex Avenue), is open every Saturday night, from 7pm to 9:30pm, from November 23, 2019 to March 28, 2020.

The Wilmington Youth Center offers a variety of activities, including:

  • Board Games
  • Jukebox
  • Foosball
  • Ping Pong
  • Billiards
  • Video Arcade Room
  • Video Games (Game Cube, Playstation II, Wii, X-Box Kinect)

During the season, the Center sponsors several activities, including:

  • Dances with DJs
  • Craft Nights
  • Whiffle Ball Games

Snack items, including pizza, candy and beverages, are available for purchase each week.

A member’s parent is required to chaperon for a minimum of two Saturday nights.

Registrations will be accepted on Saturday nights during the season. Registration costs $40 per child or $80 per family. The registration form can be found HERE.

#5) Library Is Closed; Book Store Next Door Is Open

The Wilmington Memorial Library (175 Middlesex Avenue) is CLOSED due to its stairwell renovation project.

The Friends of the Wilmington Memorial Library’s Book Store Next Door (183 Middlesex Avenue) is open from 10am to 4pm. All books are $2 or less!  Every penny of every sale benefits the Wilmington Memorial Library. Learn more HERE.
