WILMINGTON REC REMINDER: Travel To Newport, Rhode Island or Mackinac Island, Michigan

Below is an announcement from the Wilmington Recreation Department:

WILMINGTON, MA — Did you resolve to get out more, see more and do more in 2020?  If so, we can help you to do it – easily!

On Wednesday, March 11, we’re off to Newport, Rhode Island for a fun-filled day!  We begin with a trip down beautiful Ocean Drive to see spectacular views of stately homes and mansions.  Then we’ll head to the “always fabulous” Newport Playhouse.  We’ll enjoy lunch at their extensive buffet before heading into the theatre to see a spoof on Alfred Hitchcock’s “The 39 Steps”.  This parody takes the thriller movie to new heights of theatricality and humor.  And wait, there’s more!  After the show we head back to the dining room to see a captivating Cabaret show – many of our travelers can’t wait for a repeat of this fun show.  This trip is $99 ($104 for non-residents).

If you’re looking for more than a day trip, we’ve got an amazing trip booked to visit Mackinac Island next summer.  If you’ve never heard of it, this charming and historical island in Northern Michigan is so pristine, they don’t allow cars.  We’ll be touring the island by horse-drawn carriages!  We’ll dine at the famed Grand Hotel and ferry to and from the island.  There are many other highlights on this 9-day/8-night trip – we’ll visit the Bavarian village of Frankenmuth, and shop at the world’s largest Christmas store!  We’ll explore the Ford Museum, the Ford Rouge Factory and Greenfield Village to learn more about the history of the Industrial Revolution in America.  We’ll enjoy beautiful Traverse City where we’ll view the renowned Mushroom Houses, and tour the Music House Museum.  We’ll finish the trip with two nights in the beautiful city of Chicago, ending with dinner and entertainment at Tommy Guns Garage – an interactive speakeasy with a musical comedy review.

Our package includes airfare, motor coach transportation throughout the tour, 8 nights accommodations in quality hotels, 13 meals, admission fees, a Tour Director, taxes and gratuities (except Tour Director and Driver).  This trip runs August 14 – 22, 2020, and is $2,385 p.p.d.o. (single and triple rates are also available).

As always when you travel with Wilmington Recreation, we take care of all the details – once you’re registered you can just enjoy yourself!
