POLICE LOG for January 1: Abandoned Carseat Causes Scare; Hit & Run At Target; Teens On Thin Ice

WILMINGTON, MA — Below are highlights from the Wilmington Police Log from Wednesday, January 1, 2020:
  • A caller reported a group of 10 or so youths are fighting in the street in the area of Hobson Avenue and Wisser Street. Could be horseplay.  Police responded, but no youths were located. (12:05am)
  • Police notified by a passerby that there was a Christmas tree in the middle of the roadway on Shawsheen Avenue. By time police responded, tree had already been removed. (12:48pm)
  • Security manager at Target reported they have a video of a hit and run that occurred in their parking lot. Reporting party doesn’t wish to press charges, but wants to exchange information for insurance purposes. Police spoke with other operator who confirmed accident and arranged for paperwork exchange. (4:41pm)
  • A caller reported three teenagers walking on the ice on Silver Lake. Police spoke with teens, who opted to get off the ice. (5:00pm)
  • A caller reported a carseat left in a vacant parking spot in the Target parking lot. Carseat has baby blanket and set of clothes in it. Caller felt it was suspicious. Police responded. Blanket and clothes appear to have been thrown up on. Police believes the property is abandoned. Staff threw everything away. (9:09pm)
