WILMINGTON, MA — AJ’s Kitchen (162 Lowell Street) recently announced it has donated $4,000 to The Doug Flutie Jr. Foundation For Autism.

Customers donated $2,000 through the restaurant’s in-store fundraising campaign during the holiday season. Owner David Erickson matched each donation to bring the fundraising total to $4,000. Doug Flutie and his family has pledged to match that total, ultimately resulting in a $8,000 donation.

The Flutie Foundation’s mission is to help people and families affected by autism live life to the fullest. The cause is an important one to David and his wife Candy. The restaurant is named after their son AJ, who has autism. In addition to fundraising initiatives, the restaurant is frequently participating in autism awareness efforts — from the autism logo on their employees’ shirts and hats to autism patches on its walls.
