Wilmington Boy Scout Collecting Supplies For ‘Birthday Bags’ For Families In Need

Below is an announcement from a Wilmington Boy Scout, which first appeared in this week’s St. Thomas/St. Dorothy’s church bulletin:

My name is Christian Bolanos, a senior at Wilmington High School. I am currently a Boy Scout working on my Eagle Scout project. For the project, I will be working on constructing Birthday Bags, which contain all the supplies needed for a child to have a happy birthday, including cake mix, paper products, a tablecloth, and more.

My inspiration for this project is that during the holiday season, people are much more generous, making sure that children get all the gifts that are needed. However, people often overlook that for some children, a birthday is their own special holiday, and I believe that every child deserves to have a birthday.

I will be donating these bags to the Greater Lowell Children’s Fund, so that the parents who are already struggling can have a little peace of mind knowing that there is help available to provide their child with a birthday.

Thank you to everyone who has donated. Your generosity is greatly appreciated. If you would like to know more about my project or donate, please contact me at chopper0331@verizon.net.
