WILMINGTON, MA — Below are 5 things to do in Wilmington on Thursday, October 17, 2019:
#1) RMLD’s Family-Friendly Open House
Reading Municipal Light Department (RMLD) invites customers to attend an Open House on Thursday, October 17, 2019, from 3pm to 6pm, at RMLD’s Garage located at 218 Ash Street, Reading.
This fun and educational event will feature bucket truck rides, face painting, kids’ games and prizes, pumpkin decorating, a lineman for a day activity for the kids, lineman demos, and a plug-in electric vehicle showcase. RMLD staff will offer education on electricity, electrical safety, energy conservation, and information about RMLD rebate and efficiency programs. There will also be complimentary snacks, a raffle, and a special “birthday” celebration at 5:00 pm in recognition of RMLD’s 125th anniversary.

#4) WHS Boys & Girls Soccer Teams Hold Fundraiser At Fuddruckers To Support Breast Cancer Patients
Join the soccer teams from Wilmington High School and Stoneham High School on Thursday, October 17, 2019, from 4pm to 8pm, at Reading’s Fuddruckers, inside Jordan’s Furniture, for a special fundraiser.
Bring a copy of the flyer below, or show it on your phone to your server at checkout, and 20% of your bill will be donated to the Wilmington-based Hope & Friendship Metastatic Breast Cancer Foundation.
The teams will also be holding their annual “Kick Cancer Games” at Wilmington High School on Saturday, October 19, 2019. The boys play at 5pm, while the girls play at 7pm. Youth soccer players wearing their jerseys — or anyone wearing pink — will be admitted to the games free of charge. Donations will be accepted for Hope & Friendship.
#5) Wilmington SEPAC To Hold Basic Rights Workshop
The Wilmington SEPAC and Tewksbury SEPAC are holding a Basic Rights in Special Education Workshop on Thursday, October 17, 2019, from 6pm to 8pm, at Tewksbury Memorial High School (320 Pleasant Street, Tewksbury).
Attendees will receive a comprehensive introduction to special education laws and procedures, including: purpose of the law; when and how to make a referral; evaluations; the Team meeting process; standards for determining eligibility; services and placement; what to do if the team decides the student is not eligible; what happens after the close of the team meeting; parent’s response options to an IPE, and procedural due process rights for resolving disputes.
