OBITUARY: Donald Louis Long, 56

DERRY, NH — Donald Louis Long, 56, of Derry, NH, died October 2,2019 in Derry, NH. He was born in Chelsea, Mass. on September 14, 1963, son of the late Donald and Mary (DeAngelis) Long. He was raised and educated in Wilmington, Mass., living in Nashua, NH and then Derry, NH for many years. Donald enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren.

Donald survived a traumatic brain injury about eight years ago, following that he moved to Derry and with the help of Community Crossroads of Atkinson, NH, The Krempels Center of Portsmouth, NH and The Brain Injury Association of NH, where he was working to rebuild his life. He loved facilitating inspirational speaking engagements, trying to help people better understand Brain Injuries and prevention. Donald held many positions in his lifetime, always willing to try something new. He loved to play with his dog Molly, who was his constant companion and Service Dog. Donald and Molly recently began donating their time by visiting hospice centers, having Molly visit and give comfort to the residents.

He is survived by his two daughters, Nicole Long and Ricky Matthews of Nashua, Kerrie Long of Derry, formally of Nashua, his cherished grandchildren: Izaiah and Joziah Matthews, sister Deborah Long of Wrentham, sister, Cheryl Stancik and husband Dale of Derry, NH, Sister Rhonda Manning and husband David of Derry, NH and brother Edward Long and the late Anne Long of Derry, NH; as well as many aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.

In Donald’s memory, donations can be made to any of the organizations listed above.
Private services will be held at a later date.
