WILMINGTON, MA — The 5th Annual (and Final) Tony A 5K Run/Walk will take place this Saturday, October 12, 2019 at 9am, beginning and ending at the Wilmington Town Common.
In April 2015, Wilmington resident Anthony “Tony” Alonardo passed away. Tony was known as a wonderful father and husband, and very active in the community, volunteering with Wilmington Youth Hockey, Wilmington Knights of Columbus, and St. Dorothy’s Parish.
Tony’s helping spirit continued after his death. Tony was an organ donor who helped 48 recipients through his organ and tissue donations. His corneas helped 2 people regain their sight. His ligaments helped a woman regain her ability to walk after a tragic accident. His heart valve helped repair a 1-year-old baby’s heart. At least one the 48 recipients will be present at the race this year.
All of the funds raised from this year’s race will continue to support the ongoing Wilmington High School Scholarship in Tony’s memory to keep his legacy of “What can I do? How can I help?” going for years to come.
Register for the final Tony A 5K at TonyA5K.com. The first 100 to register will receive a FREE t-shirt donated by Cookes Skate Supply in Wilmington.
