Adult Events

Meet Spot the Robot *RR
Saturday, September 28, 10 am
Boston Dynamics Spot “dog” robot is a four-legged machine designed for indoor and outdoor operation.  It can go up and down stairs, navigate its way around a building, and even load a dishwasher! Come and see this amazing robot for yourself.  There will be a short lecture in the conference room followed by an outside demonstration. Grades Kindergarten and up.

Internet of Things *RR
Wednesday, October 2, 7 pm
There may be over 7 billion people on Earth but there will be over 20 billion things connected to the internet next year. Come learn what all those things are. You probably have more than you realize.

Boston North End Market Tour *RR
Thursday, October 3, 7 pm
Join us on a virtual tour of the Markets in Boston’s Italian North End, to see where locals shop. Italian food expert and chef, Michele Topor, will talk about how to identify the best and most genuine ingredients. Learn why the Mediterranean diet and lifestyle are believed one to be the World’s healthiest. You will come away thinking about the foods you eat and the way you live. Olive oil and balsamic vinegar are Italian cooking essentials—you will have the chance to both taste and learn what real quality is all about! Funded by the Wilmington Sons of Italy.

Fiction Critique Group*RR

Love writing fiction? Whether you are drafting a short story or a novel, joining our Critique Group is a great opportunity to meet other writers and get constructive feedback in a supportive environment. When registering, please provide your email address so you can receive an agenda and any prep materials before the meeting. Open to all experience levels writing in all genres. Led by local writing enthusiast, Barbara Alevras.

Author Talk: Jane Healey *RR
Saturday, October 5, 2:30 pm

Jane Healey’s novel, The Saturday Evening Girls Club, is based on the true story of a group of Italian and Jewish immigrant women in Boston’s North End at the turn of the 20th century. The author will discuss how she first learned of the Club when writing an article about the Club’s highly collectible pottery for Boston Home magazine. Learn  how the author created a fictional narrative about four friends and SEG club members – Caprice, Ada, Thea and Maria – based on that history. Book signing and sales to follow talk. Presented in partnership with the Wilmington Sons of Italy.
