WILMINGTON, MA — Below are 5 things to do in Wilmington on Sunday, September 15, 2019:
#1) Local Heroes Car Show
Local Heroes is holding its Annual Car Show beginning at noon, at the Merrimack Valley Pavilion (2087 Main Street) in Tewksbury.
Local Heroes is a Wilmington-based non-profit organization dedicated to supporting our servicemen and women and helping veterans reintegrate back into civilian life.
In addition to the Car Show, the public can enjoy raffles, silent auction, food, beer & wine, mini-golf, laser tag, and arcade games. Featured silent auction items include tickets to Patriots, Bruins and Celtics games. Featured food includes burgers, sausages, ice cream, slush, and fried dough.
If you wish to participate in the Car Show, there is an entry fee of $15 per vehicle. All proceeds go directly to Local Heroes. The competition is open to all antiques, classics, small trucks, and motorcycles. Trophies will be awarded to the winners.

#2) Police vs. Fire Softball Game; Cornhole Tournament
The Wilmington Fire Department and Wilmington Police Department are holding their 3rd Annual “Guns and Hoses” Softball Game at 1pm at Town Park/Aprile Field (791 Main Street).
A cornhole tournament, open to the public, will take place prior to the game at 11am. Registration begins at 10:30am. The tournament is bracket style with prizes for first and second place. Registration costs $10 per team. Pre-register via VENMO (Morganbreen1) or register in-person at 10:30am.
This family-friendly event will also include a raffle table, a 50/50, and a DJ. Refreshments will be for sale. One of the featured raffles is a Boston sports-themed cornhole set. Tickets cost 3 for $5, 10 for $7, and and 15 for $12.
All proceeds from the event will benefit the family of Wilmington 14-year-old Reegan Noble, who is battling Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.
#3) Trouble The Dog Motorcycle Ride
Sheila Duncan, founder of The Kennek Foundation, announced the Fifth Annual Trouble The Dog Motorcycle Ride will take place on Sunday, September 15, 2019.
The motorcycle ride, escorted by the Middlesex County Sheriff’s Office, will benefit first responders and the children they serve. The scenic ride will start and end at Shriners Auditorium in Wilmington (99 Fordham Road).
Tickets are only $20 per rider, which includes coffee and doughnuts, and full lunch after the ride. There will be music, a cash bar, food and prizes.
Proceeds from the ride help to place Trouble The Dog plush K-9 dogs in police cruisers, fire trucks, and ambulances to help first responders provide a source of comfort to children in the event of an accident, fire, domestic situation or other emergency. Trouble plush K-9 dogs are a source of comfort that children need in times of crisis.
Representatives from police and/or fire departments will be participating from Boston, Revere, Saugus, Salem, Wilmington, Marblehead and other communities.
Suggested donation is $20 per rider, $10 per passenger, and $20 for walk-ins.
All are welcome. Motorcycle not required for participation. Sign in and on-site registration starts promptly at 10am., with kickstands up at 11am.

#4) RMLD Electric Car Show
The Reading Municipal Light Department is hosting a free Electric Car Show from 10am to 2pm in the Wilmington Town Common Parking Lot (140 Middlesex Avenue).
Residents are invited to invited to view an assortment of plug-in electric vehicles from local automobile dealers.
Local electric vehicle owners will also be in attendance with their vehicles to offer insider reviews and commentary.
Information about charging stations, electric vehicle incentive programs, and rebate programs will be available.
Learn how plug-in electric vehicles offer significant environmental benefits, reduce fuel and maintenance costs for owners, and help keep electric rates low.
This is a family-friendly event featuring complimentary snacks, kids’ activities, and a raffle.
The car show will take place in conjunction with the Wilmington Farmers Market, which will run from 10am to 1pm on the nearby Swain Green. This week’s market will feature 11 vendors, plus live music and a kids craft.
#5) Wilmington Farmers Market
The Wilmington Farmers Market will be open from 10am to 1pm on the Swain Green, across from the Town Common, at 140 Middlesex Avenue.
