News & Notes From WCTV: Wildcat TV After School Club Starting At Wilmington High School

WILMINGTON, MA — The below announcement was submitted by Shaun Neville, Executive Director of Wilmington Community Television (WCTV):

Welcome back students! With the new school year upon us, that also means a new round of youth programs is right around the corner for WCTV.

Our biggest endeavor is at Wilmington High School, where our Wildcat TV after-school club is starting back up.  We’re looking for high school students interested in multi-media. The Wildcat TV team meets informally each week, creating videos and covering school events. This is a great chance for juniors and seniors interested in pursuing a communications-related degree as well as freshmen or sophomores who are looking to join a club that has video, editing and on-air components.

Last year, our Wildcat TV team covered more than 30 sporting events, nearly a dozen concerts, and profiled class officers, clubs & other school initiatives.

Sound interesting? Contact Youth Director Marty McCue at marty@wctv.orgor stop by our space on the first floor of WHS next to the LGI. Marty is there most days and will be there after-school on Wednesday and Friday afternoons to talk to interested students.

There’s no major time commitment for students who are just interested in doing things from time to time. And getting involved early on gives students a leg up for internship opportunities come junior and senior years.  We already have a bunch of kids involved in this program and we look forward to adding more in the coming weeks!

As for our other youth programs, we do after-school classes for Middle and Intermediate School students. Those will start up soon. You’re welcome to contact Marty about details or talk to your school’s main office about when dates are on the calendar. They traditionally get going at the end of September or early October.

Our Saturday program is also coming back later on in September.  Look for details in the next week or two.

If any of this sounds interesting, there’s also an opportunity to meet our team at WCTV’s Family Fun Day, which is happening on Sunday, September 8, 2019 from 10AM-1PM at Yentile Farm.

This event is open to all Wilmington families. Come on down for music, face-painting, balloons, popcorn, ice cream and more! This will be our third year hosting this event at Yentile. It’s a great way to meet our staff and hear what the station does in the community.  We hope to see lots of you there!

New Programs (available on-demand at wctv.org or on TV: Comcast 9 / Verizon 37):
