OBITUARY: Steven W. Parker, 62

WILMINGTON, MA — Steven W. Parker, age 62, of Wilmington, passed away on Friday, August 9th from complications related to a massive stroke suffered while recovering from open heart surgery. At the time, he was surrounded by members of his loving family and friends.

Steven was born on Dec. 23rd, 1956 in Boston, MA. He was the beloved husband of Shari (Dennis Belding) Parker, and the son of Edward and Ann Parker (formerly of Braintree, MA.), where Steve graduated from high school in 1974. After receiving a Bachelor’s degree in Business at Bentley University in 1978, Steve’s career included a senior management position with Corp. Tech, Inc. in Burlington, and for the past 16 years he has been a Senior Partner and Vice-President at Digitell, Inc. working with his brother Jim as part owner of the company.

During Steve’s high school and college days, he was a successful baseball pitcher for both Braintree High School and Bentley College, earning numerous awards for both on and off field accomplishments. In his youth, Steve was involved in DeMolay, scouting, and local church and youth activities in the South Shore area. His love for sports continued as a loyal Red Sox, Bruins, Patriots and Celtics fan, and he could frequently be seen wearing a shirt or jersey of one of his favorite teams. Additionally, Steve was passionate about music, evident by his skill as a drummer and his participation in various bands and venues. Steve also enjoyed the game of golf, and whenever possible liked to play a competitive round against his two brothers, Bruce & Jim.

In recent years, Steve and Shari have enjoyed traveling, golfing together, planning for retirement years, and creating a natural habitat for local birds and other species of nature. Steve had an amazing Koi pond in the front of the house and several bird feeders in the backyard that attracted cardinals, blue jays, finches, and, of course, squirrels. His love for nature and the outdoors was appreciated by all who knew him well!

Steve will be missed by his parents, Ann & Ed Parker, from Hobe Sound, Florida, who have greatly appreciated his patient love, kindness, and oversight throughout their lives. Steve was always available by phone or in person to help meet their needs and give wisdom to the challenges they now face as senior citizens. His personal care for them and for so many others will be greatly missed.

Steven was the beloved husband of Shari (Dennis Belding) Parker, the father of Ryan & Stephanie Parker, and step-father of Jesse, Rick, Valerie and Henry Belding, all of Wilmington. He is also survived by his parents, Ann & Ed, brothers Bruce (and his wife Sandy) of Hood River, Oregon and Jim (and his wife Judy) of Mayville, NY.; and brother-in-law of Steve Dennis of Dallas, TX. His family also includes 10 nieces and nephews (Kristin, David, Paul, James, Andrew, Kimberly, Michael, Joey, Elena and Claire).

Funeral services will be from the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Avenue (Rt. 62), Wilmington on Wednesday, August 14th at 10 AM, followed by a Celebration of Life at the Wilmington Congregational Church, 220 Middlesex Avenue at 11 AM. Visiting Hours will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, August 13th from 4:00 to 8:00pm.
