Near Tragedy On 93 In Wilmington As Piece Of Wood Crashes Through Driver’s Windshield

WILMINGTON, MA — The Wilmington Police Department turned to social media on Thursday morning – following an unusual accident on 93 North in town – to remind drivers to secure all items that could potentially fall off of their vehicle or trailer.

According to police, a chock block smashed through a driver’s windshield this morning while traveling on I-93. The large piece of wood bounced from the southbound lane into the northbound lane, crashing through the driver’s windshield, nearly striking him in the face as he drove. The driver was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

“It went right through the window and then somewhere else in the car because it landed below the front passenger seat,” the shaken driver told WCVB. “I’m lucky that it hit the window and went just right of me and not directly straight to my face.”
