WILMINGTON, MA — Below is a list of FREE upcoming programs for adults, teens and kids at the Wilmington Memorial Library.

Registration begins 30 days prior to the event. Please register online using our Calendar of Events at or by calling (978) 694-2099 (for Adult) or (978) 694-2098 (for Children/Teen). Adult Events

History of Silver Lake *RR
Monday, June 17, 7 pm
Learn more about Silver Lake and its history, known in various eras to be a vacation hot spot, a scene of commercial ice harvesting, a vibrant local neighborhood and more!  Panelists will be past and present residents of the area and will discuss life in the neighborhood, local legends and myths surrounding Silver Lake, and how this district fits into the larger Wilmington and Tewksbury communities. This event is a collaboration of the Wilmington Memorial Library and Tewksbury Public Library, with the support of the Wilmington Historical Commission, Wilmington Town Museum and Tewksbury Historical Society.

Coffee with a Cop
Wednesday, June 19, 10 am
Drop in, grab a tea or coffee, and chat with a police officer. Learn about the rights of the public as well as the roles and responsibilities of police and community in a relaxed and open setting. All questions welcome.

Current Affairs Discussion Group*RR
Wednesday, June 19, 7 pm (meets the third Wednesday of the month)
This group is for all who would like to broaden their knowledge of current national and international affairs. You will have the opportunity to discuss topical events and learn from others. Recommended background readings will be provided prior to each meeting. Led by facilitator Dan Hall.

In the Mood *RR
Thursday, June 20, 2:30 pm
Vintage guitarist Ken Lelen will play the romantic tunes of the 1940s that gave pop music emotional depth and evoked moods to resonate with folks on the Home Front and Front Lines.

English Conversation Group
Thursday, June 20, 7 pm-8 pm
Practice speaking English with fellow English language learners in a relaxed environment. Open to all ability levels. Led by ESL Teacher and Program Coordinator Susan MacDonald.

Novel Ideas Book Group *RR
Thursday, June 20, 7 pm
Featured Book: Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng
Enjoy reading fiction? Join the library’s fiction book group led by Adult Services Librarian Kim Blakely. Please stop by the library to pick up a copy of the featured book.

Summer Reading Kickoff: Magician Scott Jameson *RR
Saturday, June 15, 11 am
Join magician and juggler Scott Jameson for an extraordinary performance that will have you laughing out loud and perched on the very edge of your seat. Umbrellas will be plucked from thin air, a drawing will come to life, basketballs will be spun and juggled, and a member of the audience will unlock telekinetic abilities. Ages 3+

Preschool Storytime: Space
Tuesday, June 18, 10 am
Stories about space will be featured in this storytime session for preschoolers with books, rhymes, music and a fun craft. Parents and caregivers accompany the child and participate in the activities. Tickets will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. Ages 3-5

Read to Thor *RR
Tuesday, June 18, 5-6:30 pm
Come meet and read to Thor, a beautiful dog who loves to listen to kids read! Sign up for one 15-minute session per reader. Grades K-3

Jackbox Game Night *RR
Tuesday, June 18, 7 pm
Play these outrageous party game phenomenon packs from the creators of You Don’t Know Jack. Bring your own wifi-enabled device to join the fun. Grades 6-12

Drive-In Movie *RR
Wednesday, June 19, 6:30 pm
Join us as we make and decorate cars out of large cardboard boxes. Afterwards, we’ll eat popcorn inside our cars as we watch The Magic School Bus “Gets Lost in Space” at our own Drive-In Movie Theater! Each child will need an adult to assist them. Ages 3-6.

Library Closed Friday Morning June 14
The library will be closed Friday June 14 from 9 am to 1 pm for staff training. The library will be open 1pm to 5 pm
