WILMINGTON, MA — Wilmington School Superintendent Dr. Glenn Brand announced the hiring of Ken Lord as the district’s new Director of Information Technology & Digital Learning at this week’s School Committee Meeting.

“Mr. Lord has 25 years of public education experience serving roles within the area of educational technology,” said Brand. “He began his career in education as Director of Information Technology and Network Administrator with the Bedford Public Schools. Currently, he serves as the Executive Director of Technology & Operations with the Marblehead Public Schools where he has served since 2012. In his current role, Mr. Role represents the district on numerous committees in Marblehead including a building committee, the Marblehead Cable Advisory Committee, and the Marblehead Community Access and Media Board of Directors.”

“In his current role, Mr. Lord supervises almost 50 staff spanning both the Technology & Facilities Departments, and routinely manages and oversees the procurement process,” continued Brand. “He has been instrumental in the planning for the launch of a 1:1 Chromebook program at the high school and recently participated in the Chief Technology Officer Certification program sponsored by the Massachusetts Educational Technology Administrators Association (METAA).”

Brand then detailed the search process, which included an initial screening interview; a site visit to Wilmington where Lord met with the Office of Information Technology, instructional leaders, and building & district leaders; and extensive reference checks.

“Feedback gathered throughout the process pointed to Mr. Lord’s extensive knowledge and understanding of both instructional technology integration as well as the hardware and infrastructure aspects,” said Brand. “As a leader, he is noted to bring to his work a commitment in fostering strong teamwork, respect, and the highest level of professionalism.”

Lord, who holds a Bachelor of General Science in Media Communications from Salem State College, will assume the role on July 1, 2019.
