WILMINGTON, MA — Dan Kennedy, Associate Professor of Journalism at Northeastern University, regular panelist on WGBH-TV’s Beat the Press, and writer of the blog Media Nation, discussed his latest book, The Return of the Moguls: How Jeff Bezos and John Henry Are Reinventing Newspapers for the Twenty-First Century, at the Wilmington Memorial Library on Monday, April 29, 2019.
Kennedy discussed how three wealthy men — Jeff Bezos (Washington Post), John Henry (Boston Globe), and Aaron Kushner (Orange County Register) — purchased newspapers and took different approaches to realize success. One failed. One prospered. And the jury is still out on the other.
Kennedy framed his discussion by stressing the importance of a free press in a civilized society.
