In the top of the seventh inning, the Wildcats were able to secure the victory by scoring three more runs.  Once again it was the top part of the batting order that got things done.  Jenna Sweeney led off with a single (3-4, 3 runs scored) and was moved to third on a bunt single by Ashley Crawford (4-4, 3 runs scored)  Crawford stole second and third batter Ally Moran (2-3, 1 run scored and 3 RBI) was hit by a pitch to load the bases.
Clean up batter Bella Kieran (2 RBI) singles home Sweeney and Crawford.  Moran scored the seventh run on an error on Chase Anderson’s infield hit.

Moran was dominant on the mound again registering 12 strikeouts along the way.

Wilmington’s short game really came to life in the later innings. In addition to Ashley bunt singles, Kayla Bourrell and Ryan Bailey both had excellent sacrifice bunts.

“Today we were able to get a win, but our base running needs a lot of improvement,” said Coach Audrey Cabral. “Some of our decisions took us out of potential big innings… There are many times that we are playing nervous, but we are confident that we will make great improvements here as well.”
