Kindly accept this letter of support for Kevin Caira in his bid for re-election as a member of the Board of Selectmen this Saturday, April 27, 2019.
I am not a social media person. I don’t do Facebook, and I don’t do Instagram. I have, however, followed with interest those posts on social media sites over the past months which have been critical of Kevin Caira. Those critics do not know Kevin Caira, and they either have no idea what he has done over the years for the benefit of the people of the Town of Wilmington, or they have turned a blind eye to his immeasurable contributions to his beloved town.
Kevin Caira, as a young man, had instilled in him by his parents the importance of being an active volunteer member of the community. Over the past thirty years, Kevin has done charitable and volunteer work in this community that speaks volumes about who Kevin Caira is. The Fourth of July celebration, the Wilmington High School Alumni Association and the Sons of Italy Charities, to name just a few, are some of the endeavors that Kevin Caira has worked tirelessly on as an active volunteer in this town. Kevin Caira’s record as an exemplary citizen of this town speaks for itself, and it is a record beyond reproach.
While writing this letter, a thought occurred to me. Kevin Caira and I don’t have a lot in common. We don’t travel in the same social circles, or the same political circles. But we do travel together in the most important circle of all. The circle of community involvement, caring and compassion. You would be hard pressed to find another candidate in the race for selectmen, or in the community in general, for that matter, who has done more for the Town of Wilmington over the course of the last three decades than Kevin Caira. That, my friends, is an intangible character trait that is impossible to beat.
I like to look at the big picture. I may not always agree with a person, or a vote, or even a person’s position on a certain matter. But I always come back to that person to make a determination of their character. Kevin Caira’s character, and his reputation, are beyond reproach, and they have been on display in this community long before he became a selectman.
I have heard a lot of talk around town recently about civility. You want to see civility. Just look to Kevin Caira. Along with civility you will get an unrivaled passion for community involvement and volunteerism. In short, the perfect candidate for the office of selectmen.
Please join me in voting for Kevin Caira on April 27, 2019.
