WILMINGTON, MA — In their home opener, the Wilmington High School Varsity Softball team (2-0) defeated Belmont High by a score of 9-0 on Wednesday, April 17, 2019.
Ally Moran went the distance allowing only one hit while striking out 10.
The Wildcats scored five runs in the first inning and never looked back. Kayla Bourrell led off the game with a single and Ryan Bailey (2-3, 2 runs scored) had 2 RBI’s in the inning.
In the third inning, sophomore catcher Ashley Crawford (2-3) plated two with a double to left field. Crawford also threw out a runner trying to steal second.
In the sixth inning, pinch hitter Cassidy Ross came up to the plate with 2 runners on and cleared the bases, earning herself her first RBI’s of her varsity career.
“Ally was dominant in the win striking, out 10 or more for the second straight game,” said coach Audrey Cabral. “She also did a great job with her defense registering 3 putouts of her own. Once again we played a clean game defensively.”
