OBITUARY: Irene (Fishburne) Harris, 91

WILMINGTON, MA — Irene (Fishburne) Harris, age 91, a long-time resident of Wilmington, passed away peacefully on March 2, 2019.

Irene was the beloved wife of the late Gerard A. Harris, devoted mother of John D. Harris of Wilmington, cherished daughter of the late James and Florence (Armstrong) Fishburne, dear sister of the late Edith Boudreau, Harry Fishburne and Edna Boudreau. Irene was also the loving aunt of Cheryl Weiser, Janice & Jack Morrison, Barbara & Bill Mee, Jack Nemensky, Patricia Joyce and Mary Harris; she is further survived by several dear friends.

Irene was employed with the United States Government for many years. She was a secretary for the Army Quartermaster Corps., the VA in Bedford and Boston, the FBI Office in Boston, the General Services Administration and the National Park Service. She also worked at Shawsheen Technical High School in Billerica and following her retirement she volunteered her services at Lahey Clinic in Burlington.

Family and friends will gather for a Funeral Service at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington, on Thursday, March 7th at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett. Visiting Hours will be held at the Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 6th from 7:00-9:00 p.m.

Donations in Irene’s memory may be made to Guiding Eyes for the Blind, 611 Granite Springs Road, Yorktown Heights, NY 10598 or to the Northeast Animal Shelter, 347 Highland Ave., Salem, MA 01970.
