TEWKSBURY, MA — Below is a press release from Dave Robertson (D-Tewksbury), candidate for the 19th Middlesex State Rep seat:
On Thursday evening, October 25th, the Joanne Benton Auditorium at Wilmington High School provided a forum for the candidates for State Representative of the 19th Middlesex District to display who they are, why they are running and the viewpoints they have on the many critical issues facing Wilmington and Tewksbury. After a debate that aimed to showcase the ideas, experience levels, and knowledge of each candidate, I wanted to take a moment to thank WCTV, the moderator, the panelists, the sponsors, the attendees and all those who watched the debate from home.
Since the debate, I’ve been overwhelmed with calls of encouragement. Despite attempted attacks based on misinformation and/or bold lies, the debate last evening allowed the truth to shine through, and voters were able to see the knowledge and morals behind each candidate. I was thankful to have the opportunity to detail, in a concise and respectful manner, how I would approach the issues facing the 19th Middlesex District, From my firm understanding of why and how Tewksbury is approaching its new elementary school, to my being the only candidate who detailed the sweeping opioid legislation passed last session, I welcomed the opportunity to factually inform the voters of what I would bring to the table if elected as your next State Representative.
As a candidate for State Representative, I have respect for the voters of Wilmington and Tewksbury. Thus, I believe it should not be the position of any candidate, and/or their committee, to declare victory in a political debate. Political debates are meant to inform, while elections are the forum in which victory is achieved. I believe I presented myself well, and I hope that all watching had the chance to form their own opinion on my candidacy and the candidacy of my opponents.
The debate last evening is available for viewing online at www.WCTV.org. I ask that you please take the time to inform yourselves on the positions that myself and my opponents have taken on the issues facing the 19th Middlesex District.
An election is an exercise in teamwork and our team is continuing to grow — rapidly. So, as we ramp-up our efforts of securing this seat for the good people of the 19th, I again give my most sincere thanks.
