WILMINGTON, MA — Below is a round-up of what’s going on in Wilmington on Saturday, October 13, 2018:
Weather: Showers likely, mainly before 2pm. Patchy fog between 11am and noon. Otherwise, cloudy, with a high near 53. Calm wind becoming west 5 to 8 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
Town Yardwaste Recycling Center: The Recycling Center, located off Old Main Street at the Wilmington/Woburn line, will be open for leaf and brush drop-off from 9am to 4pm. Only Wilmington residents will be allowed to use the facility for leaves and brush drop-off. Residents must show an ID at the entrance to the facility. No grass clippings will be accepted. No contractors or commercial vehicles will be allowed. Residents using the Recycling Center must purchase a punch card for $15 which will be good for 5 visits to the center. Punch cards may be purchased Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Treasurer’s Office at Town Hall. Cards purchased previously that have unpunched visits are still valid.
In The Community: Wilmington United Methodist Church (87 Church Street) is holding its Annual Harvest & Holly Fair from 9am to 2pm. The event will include: Delicious Thanksgiving Luncheon; Baked Goods (Fill A Bag or Box!); Second Hand Jewelry Table; Pre-Loved Books & Games; White Elephant Table; Arts & Crafts; and the Pumpkin Patch. Admission and parking is FREE. Handicapped accessible. The event is sponsored by the Wilmington & Tewksbury United Methodist Women. Proceeds will benefit their mission work and youth group missions.
In The Community: The Wilmington High School Boosters Association is holding a Rock-N-Roll Bingo fundraiser from 7pm to 11pm at the Wilmington Knights of Columbus (112 Middlesex Avenue). Rock-N-Roll Bingo is a fun game where a DJ plays live music and participants must identify the artists to cover the corresponding squares on their card. The bingo will be run by Wilmington’s own Dave Glinner. Tickets cost $20. Doors open at 7pm. Bingo begins promptly at 8pm. There will be at least 4 rounds of bingo with prizes for each round’s winners. All winners will get a chance at the Grand Prize. Participants are encouraged to bring their own snacks and dinner. In The Community: The Friends of the Wilmington Memorial Library’s Book Store Next Door (183 Middlesex Avenue) is open from 10am to 4pm. All books are $2 or less! Every penny of every sale benefits the Wilmington Memorial Library.
