Wilmington Youth Soccer’s Latest In-Town Game Summaries

WILMINGTON, MA — Below are Wilmington Youth Soccer in-town game summaries from Saturday, September 15, 2018.

Boys Grade 2 Games:

Seattle Sounders vs. Colorado Rapids:

Nobody stayed home for this action packed game. The Seattle Sounders Anthony Graziano, Ryan MacPherson, Matheus Queiroga and Cameron White scored, getting the crowd jumping out of their seats. Outstanding offense by Michael Duffy and Ethan Hunt set up many scoring chances. The flawless goalkeeping of Declan Anderson, Jack Jamieson, and Joseph Palermo provided great protection for the Sounders.

Girls Grade 2 Games:

Seattle Reign vs. Utah Royals:

The air was full of excitement, as the much-anticipated match between the Seattle Reign and the Utah Royals commenced. Fantastic ball skill were displayed by Lily Korpal, Jalyn Redmond, Riley Lopes, and Emily Ruzzo, resulting in goals by Eliana Goldstein and birthday girl Julia Zaya. The midfield and defensive play of Sienna Ashcraft, Naomi Cowles, Grace Daly, Faith McLaren, and Isabella Thibert kept the Seattle Reign in excellent shape. The crowd roared to their feet when Marley White and Bella McCarthy made some spectacular saves.

Top-Notch play kept people watching this one. Excellent offensive plays by Nyla Chimwanda, Reighan Glover, Emily Viveiros and Keli Tkachuk applied heavy pressure causing the Seattle Reign to back pedal. Defensive positioning by Olivia Marasca, Alexa Rivera, Kelsie Morrow, Kylie Afthim and Kaylee Chan fended off any threat that came thru making it tough for the Seattle Reign. Olivia Howie, Emily Falk, Isabella DeOliveira and Alaina Roy also played a great game in net, keeping the game in hand.

Boys Grade 1 Games:

New England Revolution vs. Columbus Crew:

The crowds gathered at the Shawsheen fields for this back and forth game. The nation’s greatest team, the New England Revolution, led by Hunter Coolbaugh and Max Brugel got the crowd jumping out of their seats.  Bryce Hunter, Gavin Marinho, Liam Mills-Baptiste, and Matt Romano led the scoring charge, while the great defensive effort of Kai Scaplen and Chickie Romano  kept the action going with strong performances on both sides of the field.

Boys Kinder Games:

Atlanta United FC vs. Colorado Rapids:

Proving they were also World Cup Competitors, Dom Tonello scored scored for the Atlanta United FC in this hard fought game.  Lex Brugel, Shane Kelly, and Cal Scribner  added the offensive punch and  Adam Cusce, Andrew Sulgrave, Parker Hall, Connor Laing, and Marco Smolinsky held up the defense. It was an outstanding team effort.

Girls Kinder Games:

Chicago Red Stars vs NC Courage:

One could only believe the silence of the crowd was due to the fantastic ball skill of Layla Veri, Seraphina Dabiero and June Fairwather. However it did not take long for the crowd to cheer as goals were scored by Hailey Brabant, Grace Connolly And Emilia Emery. The Chicago Red Stars defensive stand made by Celia McGagh and Paityn Loughran could only be viewed as heroic.

Boys Grade 2 Games:

Seattle Sounders vs. New England Revolution:

The air was full of excitement, as the much-anticipated match between the Seattle Sounders and the New England Revolution commenced. Fantastic ball skill were displayed by Michael Duffy and Anthony Graziano resulting in goals by Ethan Hunt, Jack Jamieson, Ryan MacPherson, and Matheus Queiroga. The crowd roared to their feet when goal keepers Michael Defilippo and Cameron White made some spectacular saves.

Utah Royals vs. Sky Blue FC:

Proving they were also World Cup Competitors Kylie Afthim and Kaylee Chan played hard for the Utah Royals. Olivia Marasca, Alexa Rivera, Olivia Howie and Isabella DeOliveira added the offensive punch and Nyla Chimwanda, Reighan Glover, Emily Falk and Keli Tkachuk held up the defense. It was an outstanding team effort capped off with great goal keeping by Emily Viveiros, Alaina Roy and Kelsie Morrow.

Seattle Reign vs. Washington Spirits:

Nobody stayed home for this action packed game. The Seattle Reign’s Eliana Goldstein, Riley Lopes, Marley White, and Julia Zaya scored, getting the crowd jumping out of their seats. Boys Grade 1 Games:

DC United vs. San Jose Earthquakes:

The crowd was kept on the edge of their seats this week as DC United, led by the offensive skills of Landon Vitale resulted in scoring opportunities by Tyler Saucier, Liam Kelly, Maxwell Madore, and Grayson Lynch. The defense was not to be left out of this one either as Domenic Santos and Cole Madeiros kept the ball out of their zone for much of the game. These boys proved that their fast footwork was as impressive as their midfield flossing skills on this beautiful autumn day!

New England Revolution vs. Atlanta United FC:

One could only believe the silence of the crowd was due to the fantastic ball skill of  Kai Scaplen.  However it did not take long for the crowd to cheer as goals were scored by  Max Brugel, Bryce Hunter, Gavin Marinho, Chickie Romano, Liam Mills-Baptiste, and Kai Scaplen.  All would been lost if not for the Rev’s stalwartdefensive stand made by Hunter Coolbaugh that could only be viewed as heroic.

Boys Kinder Games:

Atlanta United FC vs. Columbus Crew:

On the other side of the ball for the Atlanta United FC was an incredible offensive performance by Cal Scribner, while goals scored by Lex Brugel, Andrew Sughrue, Dom Tonello and Connor Laing got the Atlanta United FC  on the board. With a rock solid defensive stand led by  Marco Smolinsky, Adam Cusce, Parker Hall,  and Shane Kelly ( the heart and soul of the team),  the Atlanta United FC  was never out of this game.

Girls Kinder Games:

Chicago Red Stars vs. Orlando Pride:

The crowds gathered at the Shawsheen fields for this back and forth game. The Chicago Red Stars  led by June Fairweather, Emilia Emery and Seraphina Debrieo  got the crowd jumping out of their seats. Layla Veri, Grace Connolly and Paityn Loughran led the scoring charge, while the great defensive effort of Haily Brabnand and Celia McGagh kept the action going

Boys Grade 2 Games:

Columbus Crew vs. Seattle Sounders:

The Seattle Sounders were also impressive on the offensive side of the ball with great skill being displayed by Cameron White and Ryan MacPherson leading to a goal by Ethan Hunt. The defense showcased their skills today with Michael Defilippo, Joseph Palermo, and Matheus Queiroga keeping the ball out of their zone for much of the game; while the goal keeping team of Declan Anderson, Anthony Graziano, Michael Duffy, and Jack Jamieson made this game close.

Girls Grade 2 Games:

Utah Royals away vs. Washington Spirit:

The Utah Royals’s Emily Viveiros, Keli Tkachuk, Alexa Rivera and Kaylee Chan stayed on their toes creating many scoring opportunities. The play of Kylie Afthim, Reighan Glover and Alaina Roy shut down the other end of the field on defense that set the tone for this game.Great plays were also had by Emily Falk, Olivia Howie and Olivia Marasca.

Sky Blue FC vs. Seattle Reign:

Proving they were also World Cup Competitors, Lily Korpal and Riley Lopes scored for the Seattle Reign in this hard fought game. Eliana Goldstein, Jalyn Redmond, Marley White, and Julia Zaya added the offensive punch and Sienna Ashcraft, Naomi Cowles, Grace Daly, Bella McCarthy, and Faith McLaren held up the defense. It was an outstanding team effort capped off with great goal keeping by Isabella Thibert and Emily Ruzzo.

Boys Grade 1 Games:

Atlanta United FC vs. DC United Coach:

The DC United would not back down from this back and forth match. Goals by Maxwell Madore, Grayson Lynch, Cole Madeiros, Liam Kelly, and Tyler Saucier brought the crowd to a frenzy. A spectacular display of defensive skills was shown by Cameron Hughes and Landon Vitale.  In addition, the midfield play of Domenic Santos kept constant pressure on the opponent’s net. It was a great day for non-stop action by this fierce team!

Girls Kinder Games:

Chicago Red Stars vs. Houston Dash:

In what could have been confused as a World Cup Match, the Chicago Red Stars started off strong with great offensive pressure from Celia McGagh, Layla Veri and June Fairweather.  Coupled with the steel-like defense of Emilia Emery and Grace Connolly, their efforts made for an incredible game. Seraphina Dabrieo  scored first for the Red Stars, while the Hope Solo like effort of Hailey Brabant and Paityn Loughran provided solid goal-keeping to keep their team alive.
