I want to reintroduce myself to the residents of Wilmington. My name is Patricia MW Meuse and I am running for State Representative.
I am the only candidate that has actually lived in both Wilmington and Tewksbury my whole life.
My mother and her sisters moved to Wilmington in the 50’s so that their children would grow up together. I grew up on Pershing Street in North Wilmington, went to the Wildwood School, the North Intermediate, the West intermediate and graduated from Wilmington High School in 1971. My first real job was on the line at Sweetheart Plastics.
My father, John Winters, was the Commander of the American Legion, member of the Elks and an usher at St. Thomas Church. My 5 siblings and myself were brought up in a family that was expected to help others. Every Sunday from the time I was 6 years old it was our duty to clean the benches of the Church, wrap Christmas gifts for the annual Legion Christmas party for needy children, shovel our neighbors driveways and the fire hydrant at the end of the street in the winter. Dad was very involved in Memorial Day Services so all of us would help him out at the cemetery, then my brother, David and later my sister Paula would play taps at the service.
Besides playing Kick the Can until the 9 O’clock whistle blew, we would walk to North Wilmington to the penny candy store and to the drug store for lime rickeys. Sometimes we would take shortcuts on the train track but couldn’t let our mothers know.
If you are looking for a candidate that actually knows Wilmington, I am that candidate. My cousins, inlaws and friends live in Wilmington. I am the Wilmington connection.
