WILMINGTON, MA — The Wilmington Substance Abuse Coalition held its Third Annual Candlelight Vigil on Monday, September 17 on the Wilmington Town Common.
The vigil gave residents of Wilmington and surrounding communities an opportunity to remember those they have lost to the disease of addiction and to come together to reduce the stigma associated with addiction.
Watch Wilmington Community Television‘s coverage of the event below, which includes welcome remarks from Substance Abuse Coordinator Samantha Reif; a prayer from Pastor Tom VanAntwerp of Grace Chapel; musical performances from Vin Colella, John Murphy, Mary Giroux, Devin Giroux, Emily Strong, & Renee Marcou; remarks from Selectman Greg Bendel, Wilmington Rotarian Mike Burns (organizer of the 1978/6 Wilmington lawn signs), David Hanley and Alex Piro (who are both in recovery), and Steve Piro and Mary Giroux (parents of children who have suffered from addiction); and a powerful slideshow in honor of lost loved ones.
