The Wilmington Insider For September 16, 2018

WILMINGTON, MA — Below is a round-up of what’s going on in Wilmington on Sunday, September 16, 2018:

Happening Today:

Weather: Areas of dense fog before 9am. Otherwise, mostly sunny, with a high near 84. Calm wind becoming southeast around 6 mph in the afternoon.

In The Community: The Wilmington Farmers Market continues its season from 10am to 1pm on the Swain Green (across from the Town Common). See this week’s lineup HERE.

In The Community:  Local Heroes is holding its Annual Car Show beginning at noon at the Merrimack Valley Pavilion (2087 Main Street) in Tewksbury. In addition to the Car Show, other activities include raffles, food & ice cream, beer & wine, mini-golf, laser tag, rope course, and arcade games. If you wish to participate in the Car Show, there is an entry fee of $20 per vehicle.  All proceeds go directly to Local Heroes.  The competition is open to all antiques, classics, small trucks, and motorcycles. In The Community: In celebration of National Drive Electric Week (September 8-16), Reading Municipal Light Department (RMLD) invites customers to attend a free Plug-in Electric Vehicle Ride and Drive event on Sunday, September 16, 2018, from 10am to 2pm, at RMLD’s offices located at 230 Ash Street, Reading. Attendees are invited to view and test drive (or ride) an assortment of plug-in vehicles from local automobile dealers. Information about charging stations, electric vehicle incentive programs, and rebate programs will also be available. Local electric vehicle owners will also be in attendance to offer insider reviews and commentary.

In The CommunityThe Middlesex Canal Museum and Visitors’ Center (71 Faulkner Street, North Billerica) is open from noon to 4pm.  Learn about the canal, which travels through Wilmington.

MBTA Reminder: There will be no weekend commuter rail service on the Lowell Line (Wilmington Center) until December. A free shuttle bus will be available. Learn more HERE.
