WILMINGTON, MA — Below is a round-up of what’s going on in Wilmington on Sunday, September 9, 2018:
Weather: Cloudy through mid morning, then gradual clearing, with a high near 82. Calm wind becoming south 5 to 9 mph in the afternoon.
In The Community: The Wilmington Senior Center is holding a ‘Family Fun Walk’ in celebration of Grandparents Day from 1pm to 3pm at the Yentile Farm Recreational Facility. There will be face painting, raffles, giveaways, Zumba, and Yoga at this intergenerational event.
In The Community: The Wilmington Farmers Market continues its season from 10am to 1pm on the Swain Green (across from the Town Common). See this week’s lineup HERE.
In The Community: The Wilmington Field Hockey team is holding a car wash fundraiser from 9am to 1pm at the 4th of July Building (142 Middlesex Avenue).
In The Community: Wilmington High School cheerleaders are holding a car wash fundraiser from 10am to 2pm at AAA Tire Company (127 Main Street) in Wilmington.
In The Community: Wilmington Youth Soccer will hold its 7th Annual Field Day and 3v3 Tournament from 10am to 4pm at the Shawsheen School fields. As part of Field Day, Wilmington Youth Soccer will be holding its Annual 3v3 Soccer Tournament. Proceeds will benefit the Wilmington Youth Soccer Association.
In The Community: The Fourth Annual Trouble The Dog Motorcycle Ride will take place today. Registration begins at 10am. The ride starts at 11am. The ride will start and end at Shriners Auditorium (99 Fordham Road, Wilmington). The motorcycle ride, escorted by members of the Middlesex County Sheriff’s Office, will benefit first responders and the children they serve. The ride is sponsored by Marblehead Opticians. Tickets are $20 per rider, $10 for passengers, and $20 for walk-ins. Tickets include coffee and donuts — courtesy of Dunkin’ Donuts of Marblehead — and a full lunch after the ride. There will be music, a cash bar, food, and great prizes. Proceeds from the ride help to place Trouble The Dog plush dogs in police cruisers, fire trucks, and ambulances to help first responders provide a source of comfort to children in the event of a fire, accident, or other emergency.
In The Community: The Wilmington Town Museum is holding its Monthly Open House from 2pm to 4pm at the Harnden Tavern (430 Salem Street).
In The Community: The Middlesex Canal Museum and Visitors’ Center (71 Faulkner Street, North Billerica) is open from noon to 4pm. Learn about the canal, which travels through Wilmington.
MBTA Reminder: There will be no weekend commuter rail service on the Lowell Line (Wilmington Center) until December. A free shuttle bus will be available. Learn more HERE.
