WILMINGTON, MA — James Robert Landry, “Jimmy”, age 62, of Billerica, formerly a long-time resident of Wilmington, passed away peacefully at home with his loving wife Heather at his side following a courageous battle with esophageal cancer.
Jimmy was born in Fayetteville, North Carolina, on May 6, 1956; he was the dear son of the late Gus and Lorraine Landry. Jimmy was raised and educated in Wilmington and was part of a tight-knit family.
Following graduation from high school, Jimmy, met the “love of his life” Heather MacDonald; from that point forward they were inseparable.
Jimmy worked hard and was a talented carpenter, in 1989, Jimmy and Heather departed for Charleston, South Carolina where he would be part of the rebuilding process following Hurricane Hugo’s destruction to the area. The couple lived in the Charleston area for a few years before relocating to Georgia where they resided for 15 years and made many new friends. Jimmy and Heather never forgot their roots so about 14 years ago they moved back ”home” to the Wilmington area to be closer to their families.
Jimmy continued his construction work and took a position with his friends at the Gearty Brothers Construction Company in Wilmington where he was employed until his illness forced him to retire.
Jimmy was a “good guy”; he was loyal, kind, and generous to a fault. Jimmy would give you the shirt off his back or the last dollar in his pocket if you needed it; he never turned anyone away. He enjoyed following all Boston and New England sports teams. Jimmy had a quiet demeanor, but a great sense of humor and he loved a good joke.
Most of all Jimmy loved his wife, his family, and his friends with all his heart; he cherished the times they spent together and made countless memories throughout the years. Jimmy will forever be in the hearts of those he loved, and he will be greatly missed.
Jimmy was the beloved husband of Heather A. (MacDonald) Landry of Billerica, the cherished son of the late Gustave F. and Lorraine M. (Forrest) Landry, dear brother of Ed Landry of Haverhill, John Landry and his wife Pamela of Florida, Dottie Landry of Vermont, Missy Surette and her husband Mike of Nashua, NH, Joe Landry and his wife Cindi of Medford, the late Margo (Landry) Doucette and the late William Landry and his wife Susan Landry of Billerica. Jimmy is survived by his special godchildren Devin and Chase Champagne as well as many brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and friends.
