WILMINGTON, MA — Below is a round-up of what’s going on in Wilmington on Saturday, August 18, 2018:
Weather: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 11am. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. Areas of fog before 10am. Otherwise, cloudy, with a high near 82. Southwest wind around 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
In The Community: Wilmington Rotary Club’s Community Ice Bucket Challenge will take place at 10am at Rotary Park, rain or shine. 100% of all donations will be given to ALS research. All residents are encouraged to attend and participate. Learn more HERE.
In The Community: The Wilmington Sons of Italy will hold its second annual car show from 9am to 2pm in the Fourth of July Building’s parking lot (142 Middlesex Avenue). The show is presented by The Dominators Hot Rod Club. (Previously, the club ran a show each year in the Wilmington Sonic parking lot.) Hot rods, customs, muscle cars, trucks, and classics will be featured. The first 75 car shows receive a dash plaque. The event will include BBQ/food, drinks, and trophies. The event is FREE to the public. There’s a $10 entry fee for participating cars. Contact Jim Gustin (781-929-0335) with any questions.
In The Community: The Friends of the Wilmington Memorial Library’s Book Store Next Door (183 Middlesex Avenue) is open from 10am to 4pm. All books are $2 or less! Every penny of every sale benefits the Wilmington Memorial Library.
