Wilmington Man Charged With Attempted Arson Of Wilmington Group Home

WILMINGTON, MA — State Fire Marshal Peter J. Ostroskey, Wilmington Fire Chief Joseph McMahon, and Wilmington Police Chief Michael Begonis announced Thursday that James Colozzi, 50, of Wilmington, has been charged with attempting to set fire to the group home where he lived at 8 Parker Street.

Colozzi was summonsed to Woburn District Court on Tuesday, August 14 and charged with one count of attempted arson of dwelling, threatening to commit a crime, and wanton destruction of property.

On July 18, 2018, Mr. Colozzi broke the stove’s glass top, placed combustible items on it and then turned the burners on.

Wilmington Police detectives, members of the Wilmington Fire Department and State Police assigned to the Office of the State Fire Marshal jointly investigated this fire.

The case will be prosecuted by the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office.
