WILMINGTON, MA — Below is a round-up of what’s going on in Wilmington on Thursday, August 2, 2018:
Weather: Mostly sunny, with a high near 92. Heat index values as high as 101. Southwest wind 9 to 11 mph, with gusts as high as 28 mph.
At Town Hall: The Metro North Regional Housing Services Office Housing Coordinator, Laurie Stanton, will be holding office hours from 1pm to 4pm in the Wilmington Town Hall’s Small Conference Room. She will assist residents with their affordable housing questions. The Metro North Regional Housing Services Office helps people find affordable housing in Reading, North Reading, Wilmington, and Saugus. If you are unable to attend office hours on this date, future dates will be announced. Stanton can also be reached at her Reading Office at 781-942-6667 during normal business hours.
In The Community: The Wilmington Police Association and Wilmington Recreation Department are holding their annual Police Beach Day from 11am to 2pm at Town Beach. This free community event includes fun competitions, sand castle contests, and a DJ. A BBQ lunch will be served by Wilmington’s finest. The Board of Health will also be there promoting Sun Safety with free sunscreen sample and other SPF products!
In The Community: Do you like to sing? Do you enjoy performing? Come join the Merrimack Valley Chorus at one of its regular weekly rehearsals. You just might discover a passion for a cappella singing, and you’ll also make some great new friends! Open rehearsals are every Thursday at 7pm at the Wilmington Arts Center (219 Middlesex Avenue).
In The Community: The Town Beach is open today. Lifeguards are on duty from 10am to 8pm. Admission is FREE for residents. Proof of residency is required. Learn more HERE.
