Google: More Than Just Search *RR

Google may have started out as just a search engine, but it’s now so much more; email, calendars, and docs are just three of the offerings from the tech giant. Join Technology Librarian, Brad McKenna, for an introduction to the World of Google.
Author Talk: Louise Miller*RR
Thursday, August 2, 7 pm
Louise Miller is a writer and pastry chef who lives and works in Boston, Massachusetts. She is the author of The City Baker’s Guide to Country Livingand the recently released title The Late Bloomers’ Club, a delightful novel about two headstrong sisters, a small town’s efforts to do right by the community, and the power of a lost dog to conjure up true love.

Come and enjoy music-themed movies on the Swain Green! Family friendly movies will be shown on Friday nights in August starting at 7:45 pm. Check our Facebook page in case of inclement weather. This program is presented in partnership with the Wilmington Rotary.
Bob Ryan: Boston Sports *RR
Monday, August 6, 2:30 pm
Bob Ryan, retired columnist for the Boston Globe and author ofScribe: My Life in Sports,will share his favorite memories of covering the Boston sports scene. Ryan began writing for the Globe in 1968 and his column still appears occasionally. Ryan is a regular panelist on ESPN’s Sunday morning roundtable, “The Sports Reporters.” Please note that author Dick Trust who was originally scheduled to speak on this date has been cancelled due to illness.

This storytime on includes books, rhymes, music and a fun craft. Parents and caregivers accompany the child and participate in the activities. Space is limited. Tickets will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. Ages 3-5

Time for Twos

This fun program is for two year-olds and features books, songs, rhymes, music and movement. Parents and caregivers accompany the child into the story room and participate in the activities.
All You Can Read Buffet *RR
Thursday, August 2, 1-5 pm
It’s time for one of the library’s most favorite traditions–a reading and eating marathon! Bring something comfortable to lounge upon and read your materials or ours in air-conditioned comfort. We will provide the snacks and beverages throughout the day, and a pizza party at the conclusion. Grades 4-8
Friday, August 3, 10 am
Play a variety of Just Dance for Wii games with our friends and family at the library! Grades 1-5
Middle Ground Book Club *RR
Friday, August 3, 3 pm
Read Lemonade Mouth by Mark Peter Hughes, and get a chance to chat with the author. Grades 6-9
Library Hours Friday August 10
The library will be closed Friday August 10 from 9 am to 12 noon for staff training. The library will be open from 12 noon to 5 pm that day.
Food for Fines in August
In lieu of fines, the library will accept items for the Wilmington Food Pantry as payment during the month of August. In support of this effort, we ask that the items brought be comparable in cost to the fines owed.
