WILMINGTON, MA — Reading Municipal Light Department (RMLD) invites customers to attend a free Electric Vehicle Ride and Drive event on Sunday, July 15, 2018 from 10:00am to 2:00pm in the Swain Green parking lot located at the corner of Middlesex Avenue and School Street in Wilmington across from the Town Common.
The event will take place concurrently with the Wilmington Farmers Market.
Attendees are invited to view and test drive (or ride) an assortment of plug-in vehicles from local automobile dealers. Information about charging stations, electric vehicle incentive programs, and RMLD rebate programs will also be available. Local electric vehicle owners will also be in attendance to offer insider reviews and commentary.
RMLD recently launched a summer pilot program offering residential customers a $1,500 rebate for the lease or purchase of a new or used Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV), and a $1,000 rebate for the lease or purchase of a new Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicle Plus (PHEV+) with an on-board battery capacity greater than 10 kWh. Customers must take delivery of the vehicle by October 31, 2018 in order to qualify. RMLD also updated its existing residential Electric Vehicle Charging Station Program to rebate 100% of equipment costs up to $500 for a networked (or “smart”) AC level 2 charging station.
Electric vehicles offer significant environmental benefits, reduce fuel costs for EV owners, and help keep rates low.

Special thanks to the Wilmington Farmers Market and the Town of Wilmington for supporting this event.
