WILMINGTON, MA — It is with great sadness that Jack Hardy passed peacefully on Thursday, May 24, 2018 with his family by his side as he went to Heaven on a shining rainbow sunbeam after a brief illness. He was born on October 6, 1933 to Harold N. and Elvera (Milliken) Hardy in Reading, Massachusetts.
During Jack’s school years, he was a great athlete, loved to play all sports, especially football, basketball, baseball and golf. He played in the first Reading Memorial High School Golf Tournament in 1953 and received an award which is displayed in the RMHS Hall of Fame!
Jack was preceeded in death by his beloved Dad and Mom, his two brothers, three sisters and his young Godson, Frank B.Coates. There are still many nieces and nephews that remember him well as he was always “volunteering” to coach a “pick-up” team for one of the kids.
Jack retired from Local IUOE 4 Heavy Equipment and Concrete Pumping Operations, Boston, MA. Jack and his wife, Arline moved from Wilmington, MA to Ocala FL in May 1992. They opened a ceramic shop that very year in Marion Oaks, next to Mic’s 19th Hole Pub, where he enjoyed playing golf and shooting darts with his many friends.
Jack leaves his beloved friend and wife of nearly 60 years, and loving children, Linda E. Temple Migliori, Jack A. Hardy, Lori A. O’Donoghue. His Grandchildren Tara M. Temple, Gary D. Temple, Jr, Bryan S. Temple (Kate) and Ryan P. O’Donoghue. A Great Grandson, Brayden Quinn O’Donoghue and a Great Granddaughter, Charlie Elizabeth Temple.
Jack was a charter and life member, and Fellowship server of the Lodge of Loyal Order of Moose of North Reading, MA. #1511. He was also a member of the West Marion Lodge in Ocala, FL #2356. Jack travelled with his wife, Arline, a charter and life member of the North Reading, MA Chapter #492 and a Past Grand Council Member of the Women of the Moose on assignment in many of the U.S. and Canadian Provinces. Jack will be remembered by many members.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday, July 14th from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. in the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave., Wilmington, MA.
