Wilmington Residents Invited To Ipswich River Watershed Association Events

(NOTE: The Ipswich River begins in Wilmington as a series of small streams and wetlands.)

IPSWICH, MA — The Ipswich River Watershed Association is holding several upcoming events open to Wilmington residents.

Beginners Paddle
Wednesdays: July 11, July 25, August 8, August 22, 5:30pm to 8pm
Join us for a relaxed, fun, family-friendly and free paddle from our Riverbend headquarters. This Paddle Series is perfect for all ages and levels of paddling experience. You will have the opportunity to learn basic paddling skills, from the proper way to hold a kayak paddle to different ways to steer your canoe. Please RSVP to let us know if you need to borrow one of our boats or plan to use your own. Our route depends on river conditions and water level.

Mindful Paddle
Wednesday, July 18, 5:30pm to 8pm
Canoeing and kayaking are a wonderful complement to a meditative practice. This entirely silent paddle will be led by Kent Harrop, a graduate of the Shalem Institute in Contemplative Leadership and a life-long lover of rivers and paddling. Before entering the water we’ll be introduced to a few simple yet profound meditation mantras designed to quiet our minds. The intent is to be as fully present to our time on the water as possible. Spaces are limited. Please RSVP.
