STATE REP RACE: Pina Prinzivalli Blasts “Grand Bargain,” Calls For A Reduction In Sales Tax To 5%

TEWKSBURY, MA — On Thursday, Pina Prinzivalli (R-Tewksbury), released a statement following the passage of the “Grand Bargain” Bill that ended the ballot question to reduce the sales to 5% and establish an annual tax free weekend:

First and foremost I want to say thank you to the taxpayers. Over 850 of you signed my petition for the ballot question because you wanted to have a say and vote yourself a tax cut this November. I’m grateful for each and everyone of you, some of whom I have forged close relationships with. And I look forward to building more of those relationships on the campaign trail. So, Thank you.

Wednesday’s “Grand Bargain” is yet another example of career politicians and special interests working against the taxpayers. These are the same career politicians who voted themselves pay raises in 2017. Getting an annual tax free weekend isn’t enough. The taxpayers want to keep more of their hard earned money, and deservedly so. There’s no reason why the “Grand Bargain” bill couldn’t have included a reduction of the sales tax back to 5%, even if it was done in steps over 5 years.

While the taxpayers won’t get the chance to vote themselves a tax cut this November, they can go to the polls and vote for the only candidate in the 19th Middlesex District who will fight for them on Beacon Hill. I’m proud to say I’m that candidate.

(NOTE: The above statement is from the Pina Prinzivalli campaign.)

  1. There is a 5 year phase out of Sunday’s time and a half for businesses you probably support that also.

  2. Right on George! Does this girl only have a set of terminology flash cards that she chooses from? “Taxpayers first”, “career politician”, etc. At times she literally makes no sense. Her campaign isnlike a practical joke that got out of hand. Who running is a career politician? Being involved in your community does not make you a “career politician”, which you’d know if you ever did anything for anyone.

  3. The candidate, Pina, must remember as a Republican in this commonwealth you must be unique. How will you represent us in thoughtful ways? I am one who would support the President to limit government at the federal level. You can’t have it both ways. Rather you help control at the local level and justify sales tax reduction only after we’re in a good fiscal situation.
