TEWKSBURY, MA — On Thursday night, State Representative Shaunna O’Connell (R- Taunton), headlined a fundraising event at the Knights of Columbus for Pina Prinzivalli (R-Tewksbury), candidate for State Representative in the 19th Middlesex District
“I’m pleased to be able to come all the way up from Taunton because that’s how important it is that we support Pina,” said O’Connell who represents the 3rd Bristol District and is best known for uncovering fraud, waste and abuse in the welfare system to make sure benefits are going to those who are in need.
“The fact that Pina has been in this race since October, working hard, knocking on doors, meeting people, talking to business owners, finding out the concerns of the people she wants to represent says a great deal about her. She is the kind of person who has the drive, the commitment and the perseverance that we need on Beacon Hill.”
Since launching her campaign last year, Prinzivalli has worked to lower the sales tax and establish an annual tax free weekend by collecting signatures for a ballot question. She’s the only candidate to have signed the Taxpayers Protection Pledge. Prinzivalli has also pledged to never vote herself a pay raise and in the event there’s an increase in salary, she will donate the money to charity.
“If Pina was with us during the pay raises, she would have stood up against it because that’s the kind of person she is,” said O’Connell. “Pina will stand up and fight for what’s right. She will fight for her district and she will work to expose what’s going on to change the culture of our legislature so it’s truly the house of the people.”
Earlier in the week, the Tewksbury Republican Town Committee unanimously endorsed Prinzivalli’s candidacy over another Republican in the race.
“Pina has already shown that she will fight for her core values,” said Ruth Chou, chairman of the Tewksbury RTC. “Pina has also shown her determination to create opportunities to achieve her goals rather than wait for opportunities to fall into her lap. This is why we’re proud to endorse her.”
