Wilmington Youth Soccer’s Latest In-Town Game Summaries

WILMINGTON, MA — Below are Wilmington Youth Soccer in-town game summaries from Saturday, June 2, 2018.

Boys Grade 2 Games

None

Girls Grade 2 Games

Houston Dash vs. NC Courage:

Nobody stayed home for this action-packed game. The Houston Dash’s Lily Mehr and Josie O’Mahony scored, getting the crowd jumping out of their seats. Outstanding offense by Abigail O’Donoghue, Julia Navarro, and Molly Kenney set up many scoring chances. The flawless defense of Olivia Long, Madeline “Mad Dog” Manning, and Niamh McNeil provided great protection for the Goal Keepers.

Boys Grade 1 Games

Philadelphia Union vs. Chicago Fire:

The Philadelphia Union would not back down from this back and forth match. Goals by Sean Marzani and David Dicenso brought the crowd to a frenzy. A spectacular display of defensive skills was shown by Cameron Jones.  In addition, the midfield play of Jacob Ruzzo and Michael Belanger kept constant pressure on the opponent’s net.

Girls Grade 1 Games

NC Courage vs. Chicago Red Stars:

The NC Courage was impressive on the offensive side of the ball with great skill being displayed by Mackenzie Casey, Siobhan DiCarlo and Olivia Howie leading to goals by Allaina Holaman & Isabella DeOliveira.  The defense showcased their skills today with Emily Falk, Alaina Roy and Olivia Smith keeping the ball out of their zone for much of the game.

Houston Dash vs. FC Kansas City:

The Houston Dash would not back down from this back and forth match. Goals by Olivia Marasca and Emily Ruzzo brought the crowd to a frenzy. A spectacular display of defensive skills was shown by Bridget Bloom and Taylor O’Connell.  In addition, the midfield play of Taylor Stone, Kiera Barry, and Kaitlin Pryse kept constant pressure on the opponent’s net.

Boys Kinder Games

Philadelphia Union vs. Columbus Crew:

The air was full of excitement, as the much-anticipated match between Philadelphia Union and Columbus Crew commenced. Fantastic ball skills were displayed by the powerful Mikey Doucette and fearless Maxwell Madore, resulting in goals by the determined Charlie Kennedy, Rowan Norton, and Declan Riley. The midfield and defensive play of the mighty Brody Aprile kept the Philadelphia Union in excellent shape. The crowd roared to their feet when laser focused Andrew Power and Connor Mangini made some spectacular saves. The heat and humidity did not slow these boys down!

Houston Dynamo vs. New England Revolution:

The hot and humid weather was not enough to suppress the enthusiasm of the crowds gathered at the Shawsheen fields on Saturday for this evenly matched game between the Houston Dynamo and the New England Revolution.  Shots on goal by Kai Scalpen, Calen Scribner, and Alex Card brought bursts of cheers from the crowds.  Fans were pleased by the field action and fast breaks by Edin Hadzic, and Calvin Lozzi.  Jackson Kenney and Connor Laing led the scoring charge, while the great defensive effort of Graham Jackson kept the action going.   The lead passed between the Dynamo and Revolution several times during the match, given the fantastic number of shots on goal and some great steals by the speedy players.

Colorado Rapids vs. Portland Timbers:

One could only believe the silence of the crowd was due to the fantastic ball skill of Bryce Hunter. However it did not take long for the crowd to cheer as goals were scored by Max Brugel (2), Lucas Linsek and Julian Escobar.  The Colorado Rapids  defensive stand made by Maxwell Andrew, Jack Fennelly, and Shouya Kodali could only be viewed as heroic.

Harvard Crimson vs. Boston College

The Harvard Crimson was impressive on the offensive side of the ball with great skill being displayed by Brooke Spirito, Paityn Loughran and Parker Pryse leading to goals by Gisella DiGiovanni, Olivia Contarino and Raegan Nolin. The defense showcased their skills today with Sophia Rocco and Lily Falk keeping the ball out of their zone for much of the game.
