WILMINGTON, MA — The Wilmington High School Class of 2018 has dedicated its yearbook to Bruce Peters, the longtime WHS Crossing Guard who worked up until he passed away in January 2017 at the age of 85.
The reveal was made during the WHS Senior Banquet on Tuesday, May 29 when WHS senior Britney Mallebranche read the yearbook dedication to her classmates.
“Every student in the Class of 2018 has had the pleasure of interacting with our dear crossing guard, Bruce, at least once in their high school career. He always greeted everyone with a huge smile, a classic joke, and the occasional lollipop,” said Mallebranche.
“The students at WHS were truly blessed to have him in our lives and we decidate this yearbook in his honor. We can only aspire to live life as cheerfully and positive as he did,” continued Mallebranche. “Bruce truly was a spokesperson for our WHS moto — work hard, be kind.”
Bruce’s family members was present to receive a copy of the yearbook. They, in turn, brought lollipops to hand out to all the students, something Bruce would often do while on duty.
