WILMINGTON, MA — The Wilmington Fire Department responded to a three-alarm fire at 38 Nassau Avenue on Thursday morning around 3:30am.
The house’s garage, and living room above it, were completely destroyed as a result of the flames. The rest of the 2-story home suffered smoke damage and minor water damage.
“The crew made a really great stop from getting (the fire) into the house,” Wilmington Fire Chief Joe MacMahon told the Lowell Sun. “The house only has smoke damage and a little water damage.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, but officials believe the fire likely originated from a jacuzzi in the yard, located next to the garage.
Firefighters knocked down the fire in approximately 3 hours. Hidden pockets of flames were located inside the ceiling above the garage, forcing firefighters to attack the flames from the roof.
All four adults living in the house escaped before firefighters arrived. No injuries were reported.
