AAA: Giants beat Astros 7-2 on Saturday, April 28 at Boutwell Field
The Giants played a terrific game highlighted by outstanding pitching and great defense.
Noah Titterington, Ryan Gray, and Ronin Uftring limited the Astros to only two runs and were around the plate all day, combining for twelve strikeouts and allowing only three hits.
There were numerous instances where the Astros put the ball in play only to have the Giants play it flawlessly into an out in the field.
Timely hits by Chase Kennedy, Dante McCollem, and others were enough to secure the win.
The Astros did well to hold a potent Giants lineup to only seven runs. Tim Watson struck out three in two innings while Joe Gronemeyer fanned six in three innings.
Ronnan Scafiddi, John Roofe, and Gronemeyer supplied singles while others such as Ethan Afthim, Luke Kitanov, and Watson ripped balls that were flagged down by the Giants’ terrific defense. Will Poyant walked twice and scored.
On defense, Evan Cummings made the play of the game snaring a wicked shot at third and firing to first for the out. Kitanov made a nice running catch in center and Kevin Pruslin stabbed another smash at second base while Kyle McDonald and Jake Cronin were among others making plays on the ball and contributing to a great team effort on defense. Joe Fennelly and Kitanov did their usual outstanding job behind the plate.
